History
Having been founded in 1869, we are even older than Goodwill (founded in 1895) and Catholic Charities USA (founded in 1910). For our entire history we have focused on assisting our clients to become productive citizens, and to break the revolving door prison cycle. Since its inception, PAA has served over 135,000 of Maryland’s most disadvantaged men, women, and families. PAA handles over 80 requests daily for assistance with supportive services. Read more...
PRISONERS AID GOES GREEN – AWARDED COMMUNITY ENERGY SAVERS GRANT
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake was joined by Councilman Carl Stokes, Theodore Atwood, acting director of the Department of General Services, Beth Strommen, director of the Office of Sustainability, Joann Levy, executive director of the Women’s Housing Coalition, and community leaders to announce the recipients of the first round of Community Energy Savers Grants. Ms. Levy’s organization is one of 43 groups that will receive a grant to help nonprofits conserve energy and raise energy awareness in their communities. Read more...
